Rabbits

Save the date! Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 9:30am at the Liberty Center will be the next SCA Garden Club Meeting.

Our guest speaker will be Ken Moye, an avid gardener for over 60 years growing vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamental plants. Ken is never bored reading footnotes in the Sunset Western Garden Book. He also once grew a weed garden as a child believing they were simply unloved plants.

His education and training as a city planner for Los Angeles and Berkeley, CA, and Tucson, AZ for 38 years included review and approval of landscaping plans for hundreds of projects. These projects ranged from single-family homes to regional shopping malls.

Now retired, besides gardening, Ken is also an ardent ballroom and Latin dancer and former instructor.

Although he’s faced many challenges in his life, few have matched that of confronting rabbits that devoured everything he planted here. In fact, his yard became an unwitting garden buffet for those critters right after he moved to Sun City Anthem 4 years ago.

Come hear his fascinating 2-year journey of grit and determination to successfully create a truly rabbit-resistant garden without fences, traps, or poison.

Please bring your SCA ID card to show at the front desk. Guests are welcome and may attend 2 meetings at no charge before becoming Garden Club members. All we ask is that you sign in at our registration table in the hall outside the meeting room.

Also feel free to bring any contributions to our "Swap and Shop" area at each meeting. This is your opportunity to pass on any plants, tools, or supplies that you no longer need, and take home whatever you can put to good use in your garden, all free!

If you haven't already done so, please plan to set aside a few minutes of your time when you arrive at this meeting to complete our 2022 Member Interest Survey. Your responses to this survey help us meet your gardening needs as we plan upcoming meetings!
