Early April is the best time to enjoy the explosion of wildflowers blooming at Nelson's Landing.
To get there from Sun City Anthem, take I-215 E, exit 1, go South on 95, then East (left) on NV 165. As soon as you turn onto NV 165 you'll see wildflowers on both sides of the road - Desert Dandelion, Mohave Suncups, Desert Chicory and Fremont Pin Cushion. This lasts for about 5 miles, then there seems to be about 5 miles without blooms, before the color returns. As you approach the Nelson Ghost Town and the town of Nelson, you'll see Rosy two-toned Beard Tongue (a penstemon), many large pink blooms from the Prickly Pear Cactus, and you'll start to see Globe Mallow, and Brittlebush. As you approach the Nelson's Landing overlook, you'll be overwhelmed with hillsides of yellow blooms and millions of green blades of grass. It will take about 50 minutes to get to Nelson's Landing from Sun City Anthem.
