Just 2 hours north in St. George, Utah, a remarkable desert garden was created in 2015 and it has matured beautifully. Desert plants are artfully arranged, and well marked with placards giving common and latin plant names as well as a QR Code that you can scan with your smart phone to learn much more about each plant. A babbling stream, with Virgin River fish, runs throughout the 5-acre garden complete with waterfalls and stepping stones so you can cross the stream if you'd like. You'll also see birds, dragonflies, and plenty of other pollinators! There are ample opportunities for shade and rest as you move through the garden. Rest rooms are on the property. There is a path throughout the garden that is wheel chair accessible. This garden is open now, and was open throughout the spring of 2020. It is adjacent to the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve which includes a loop ride through red rocks with scenic vistas and plenty of opportunities to get out of the car and explore on foot. Utah never closed during the pandemic, so you'll also find plenty of opportunities for dining nearby.
