Demonstration and Test Gardens (Courtesy of Linda Gettier)

The Demonstration and Test Gardens of the University of Nevada/Reno Cooperative Extension feature over 1500 species of native and desert-appropriate plants. Plants are labeled with botanical and common names. Specialty areas include: Rose, Herb, Cactus, Children's and Palm Gardens, plus vegetable trials, Fruit Orchard and Milkweed demonstration.

A listing of plants is available at the Master Gardener Help Desk.

Master Gardeners offer garden tours every other Thursday. Reservations must be made in advance as of February, 2021.

The gardens are located at 8050 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89123 - the Windmill exit off of 215. For more information, call 702-257-5555. They are on the Northeast corner of Windmill and Paradise Road, 1 block west of the I-215 interchange. The entrance to their parking lot is off Paradise Road. As soon as you turn into the parking lot, make an immediate left turn and go past the covered parking to the back fence of the Garden. A Master Gardener Docent will be there to meet you for your scheduled tour.

They recommend wearing comfortable shoes - the paths are a combination of pave, gravel, and mulch. As of February 2021, masks are required.

Lori Leas is the coordinator of these events. You can reach her at 702-257-5501 or leasl@unce.unr.edu
