Save the date! Monday, October 3, 2022 at 9:30am at the INDEPENDENCE Center will be the next SCA Garden Club Meeting. Note that this fall the club is beginning its new tradition of meeting on Mondays rather than Tuesdays. Generally, we will meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. However, this month is an exception, we will meet on the first Monday, which is the 3rd. Also our meetings have moved to the Morris/Nelson rooms of the Independence Center to accomodate our growing membership.
Long-time Sun City Anthem resident and noted Vegas Voice columnist, Howard Galin, will be helping us prepare our gardens for the cooler months approaching as well as the 2023 growing season. We'll learn what tasks we should complete before putting away our landscaping equipment and materials at month's end.
Howard is a retired New York City School Administrator, transplanted to Sun City Anthem. He devotes his time to communicating with and lecturing about our native plants, hence his nickname "The Plant Whisperer". Howard is a Nevada Master Gardener, certified through the University of Nevada (Reno). He is a monthly colunmnist for the Vegas Voice Magazine. If you are not already familiar with his work, check it out on thevegasvoice.net or pick up a printed copy around town. Howard is our local SCA resource on all things cactus and succulent!
Remember to bring your SCA ID card to show at the front desk, then check in with the club when you arrive at the meeting room. If you are not yet a member you are welcome to join us at no charge for up to 2 meetings in order to get to know us better. We hope you'll like what you see and learn!
